Susan Butler has worked with Escambia Virtual Academy (EVA) since its first year, 2009-2010. She has worked in education since 1984. During this time Ms. Butler has taught at the middle school and high school levels and also in instructional design fields for defense department contractors. Certified in Spanish, History, Political Science and ancillary content areas, Ms. Butler has taught numerous subjects in the Escambia County School District and various levels of Spanish during her tenure with EVA. Currently, she acts as Spanish I through Spanish III instructor. She also serves as a Spanish instructor and Instructional Leader for Escambia High School.
Ms. Butler is a National Board Certified Teacher in Young Adult and Adolescent Social Studies. She received a Bachelor’s degree from UWF in 1984 in History Education and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Troy University.
Since the early 1990’s, Ms. Butler has served as the chairman of School Improvement, as well as chairman of School Renewal at Escambia High School. She also serves as the Volunteer chairman for the school. The majority of her career in Escambia County has been spent at Escambia High School. Ms. Butler has been active in community involvement, as a tutoring volunteer at Waterfront Mission, recording books for several ministry organizations and, formerly, as a board member of the Seville Improvement Board. A resident of Pensacola, she spends her free time restoring a pre-Civil War era home.
