Ms. Williams has been teaching for 25 years, initially in the private school system then moving to Escambia County Public Schools in 2003. She began teaching with Escambia Virtual Academy in the 2013-2014 school year. She received her Bachelors of Arts in Music Theatre (voice major, piano minor) in 1986 at Shenandoah Conservatory, followed by a Master of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College in 1992. After a brief musical theatre career off, off-Broadway, Ms. Williams returned to the Pensacola area to raise her two children and continue teaching. In 2005, she received her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from UWF.
Ms. Williams currently teaches elementary music at O.J. Semmes Elementary. She has sung and performed with many groups in the Pensacola area, and currently plays with the contemporary band at Trinity Presbyterian.
“I was most certainly put on this earth to teach music to children and young people. I want them to enjoy music, not just understand it. I find it amazing how many people don't truly comprehend the complexity and importance of music, not only in our society, but globally. If you think about it, really think about it, music is math, science, reading, history, physical education, and foreign language, all rolled into one.”
